Dr. Bo Lu
CEO, Board ChairmanAs CEO of Casela technologies Bo is responsible for company strategy, business and execution. Bo has held various roles in research and development, product engineering, operations, general management and strategic investment in Silicon Valley and Asia. His technical expertise involved both high power GaAs lasers and high power InP tunable lasers. Bo’s professional tenure includes SDL/JDSU (now Lumentum), Santur Corporation, and LatticePower. Bo received his doctorate in Electrical Engineering at the University of New Mexico, Masters from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Bachelor of Science from CUST (Sichuan University). Bo co-founded Casela Technologies in 2019, and also serves as board chairman.
Dr. Milind Gokhale
Chief Technology OfficerAs CTO of Casela Technologies Milind creates novel, high power, high efficiency external laser sources and subsystems for co-packaged optics and high speed EMLs for datacenter applications. Prior to co-founding Casela in 2019, he served as GM, Laser Devices BU at NeoPhotonics (now Lumentum) leading the company into a new direction of CW lasers for silicon photonics. He held the CTO position at Santur Corporation (acquired by NeoPhotonics). Milind co-founded ASIP/Apogee Photonics (now Broadcom) where he commercialized the world’s first uncooled EML, a laser used today in 400G+ transceivers. He received his doctorate in Electrical Engineering at the University of Connecticut and Bachelor degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (Mumbai).
Mr. Ben Li
PresidentBen joined SDL, Inc. in 1991 as product engineer then manager of high power GaAs/AlGaAs laser products after earning his MS, E.E. degree from SUNY at Stony Brook. In 1999 he joined IPG Photonics as its CTO in Oxford, MA to establish its high-power pump laser facility and capability, enabling the vertical integration that cemented IPG as the world’s leading fiber laser supplier. Ben then returned to Silicon Valley in 2002, building on his history of establishing compound semiconductor fabs in joining Santur Corporation for InP lasers as its senior operation director and then Soraa/SLD for GaN lasers and LEDs. Ben co-founded Casela Technologies in 2019.
Dr. Mark Emanuel
VP EngineeringMark received his PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1988 where his research work centered on the growth of device wafers by MOCVD. After a one-year post-doc he joined Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory to establish a semiconductor laser facility diode-pumped solid-state laser research. In 2000, he joined Novalux, a start-up focused on high-power VCSELs, and in 2001 he joined Santur Corporation to establish MOCVD capability for tunable lasers, eventually becoming Operations Director with responsibility for various types of InP-based laser and modulator chips. Mark is an author on over 100 papers on MOCVD and its application to lasers and electronic devices. Mark co-founded Casela Technologies in 2019.
Mr. Chen Lung Hsieh
VP OperationsChen Lung (“JL”) joined Casela Technologies in 2022. He started his career at Source Photonics (OIC) Optical Electric Division, in 2000, with responsibilities for InP laser process and development. In 2004, he was promoted to Section Manager of the Photoelectric Division, leading production and engineering teams in the wafer and chip sections, later becoming Division Manager in 2013. In 2015, he brought the Lean Production System to the production area, and in 2016 he became Director of Optical Electronics Production. He subsequently became Operations Director for wafer, chip, TO can, and high speed OSA production. In 2019 he was promoted to GM of the Source Photonics Advanced OSA & TRx Factory.
